Though we tend to champion the beauty of authentic patina and as-found surfaces, we have found that there are occasions where some added texture can make a reclaimed material even more visually compelling. With our saw-kissed Douglas fir, we have artfully machined a circle saw texture onto smooth boards that were salvaged from Pacific Northwest granary structures. The applied texture adds a gentle unifying rhythm to the wood which makes for a casual and warm paneling/flooring product.
