Employee Ownership (ESOP)

Pioneer Millworks & New Energy Works

We are a 100% Employee-Owned company.

Pioneer Millworks operates on the triple bottom line—a simple belief that people, planet, and profit work together to ensure a better future. Our coworkers are more than just employees, they’re a critical part of what makes our company successful. Accordingly, we offer our teams flexibility, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes the largest long-term wealth-building tool an employer can provide—an ESOP (or Employee Stock Ownership Plan). There is no buy-in fee to becoming an ESOP owner here, a coworkers' time working for the company determines eligibility, which means that all coworkers will eventually become employee-owners over time.

Every individual coworker has an ownership mentality because we are 100% Employee-Owned through our ESOP. Being Employee-Owned also means all coworkers have a directly vested interest in the profitability of the company, the cultural values we represent, and the quality work we do.

What is an ESOP?

An ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) is an employee benefit plan that enables coworkers as a group to own interest in part, or all, of a business in the form of shares of stock. An ESOP is a tax-advantaged retirement plan (a defined contribution plan, the same family of plans as a 401(k)) that holds its assets (shares of stock) in a Trust, in accounts earmarked for Plan Participants (employees). Plan Participants gain shares at no cost to them, but do not directly own the shares. Shares are distributed and valued annually, allowing for long-term wealth growth in direct relation to employee retention.

You can read more about the details of an ESOP on the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) website.
