Pay Range: $22-$27 an hour.

 

We’re looking for a Coating / Finishing Lead to join our passionate and creative team in McMinnville Oregon. The Finishing Lead is responsible for overseeing the finishing operations at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in McMinnville Oregon, crafting environmentally friendly wood flooring, siding, and paneling.

The Coating / Finishing Lead guides a team of enthusiastic finishing technicians, leading by example, and infusing their expertise in every facet of the manufacturing process. This role requires a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and a collaborative spirit to foster an environment where innovation and craftsmanship thrive.

Required Experience:

  • 2-5 years’ experience with finishing in a manufacturing setting. 
  • Experience with wood materials and finishing processes.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Project Management and manufacturing experience.
  • Communication and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with sustainable manufacturing practices and business models.
  • An educational background in fine-arts or wood working.
  • Wood industry knowledge with a background in reclaimed & sustainable wood products.

Overview –

The Finishing Lead is responsible for overseeing the finishing operations at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in McMinnville Oregon, crafting environmentally friendly wood flooring, siding, and paneling. The Finishing Lead guides a team of enthusiastic finishing technicians, leading by example, and infusing their expertise in every facet of the manufacturing process. This role requires a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and a collaborative spirit to foster an environment where innovation and craftsmanship thrive.

 

Core Competencies & Responsibilities:

  • Wood Materials and Finishing Processes: In-depth understanding of different types of wood used for flooring, siding, and paneling, as well as expertise in various finishing techniques such as staining, buffing oil finishes, and spraying water-based finishes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using and maintaining finishing equipment, such as sanders, buffing equipment, HVLP spray systems and air assisted airless finishing equipment, to achieve desired finishes on wood products.
  • Quality Assurance: Keen attention to detail to ensure that wood products meet   established quality standards, including surface smoothness, color consistency, and overall appearance.
  • Safety Protocols: Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to woodworking and finishing processes. Ensures a safe working environment for the team and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Effective leadership skills to manage a team of finishing technicians, delegate tasks, provide guidance, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Project Management: Ability to organize and oversee multiple finishing projects simultaneously, including resource allocation, scheduling, and tracking progress to meet deadlines.
  • Problem Solving: Proficiency in identifying and addressing challenges during the finishing process, such as wood defects, adhesion issues, or finish inconsistencies. Implements solutions to maintain product quality.
  • Communication Skills: Clear communication with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders to convey instructions, provide feedback, and collaborate effectively on projects.
  • Environmental Awareness: Understanding of eco-friendly wood finishing practices, including the use of sustainable materials, waste reduction, and adherence to environmental regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process optimization, cost savings, and the implementation of innovative finishing techniques.
  • Organizational Skills: Skill in managing inventory of finishing materials, monitoring supplies, and maintaining accurate records of wood products and finishes.

We’re looking for a Manufacturing Team Member / Mill Worker to join our passionate and creative team in Farmington New York. This role will work at various stations within our production line in our mill and finishing departments, providing a great opportunity to learn and grow within a manufacturing setting.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with a passion for craft & woodwork that will play an active role in the manufacturing of wood flooring, paneling, siding, and other custom wood products using reclaimed and sustainable wood.

We are a 100% Employee-Owned company, so a positive attitude and respect for teamwork is a must.  

Required Experience:

  • Basic math skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to take direction in a fast-paced team setting.


Preferred Experience: 

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally working with wood.
  • Forklift experience a plus.
