Sourced from the food or wine industries, this mix of tightly grained softwoods made the vats that held fruits, pickles, wine, water, or vinegar. The look of reclaimed vat stock will vary somewhat batch to batch but expect color tones ranging from pink to tan to brown. Typically 10–20% of center-cut plants will have dark staining from the original vat’s contents.
