Shou Sugi Ban Douglas Fir Smoke by Pioneer Millworks. Charred wood siding and paneling that is burned, brushed once, and coated with a non-toxic, water-based polyurethane

Fir Smoke

Traditionally Inspired, American Made™—an 18th century technique for preserving wood with fire is updated to meet 21st century design and performance standards. With our Fir Once-brushed we aggressively burn each board, and then brush off the softest layer of char resulting in a smooth, dark and slightly textured surface that can be left without a finish or coated with an array of exterior grade colors—shown here in Smoke; a warm gray.

Boards feature vertically striped darker grains and is known to take well to stains and finishes. Characteristically resilient to wear and weather conditions, an unyielding option for exterior siding, with the versatility to create elaborate geometric patters and designs for interior cladding.
