Private Residence—Chimacum, WA

This private residence in a meadow of the Chimacum Valley, in Washington State, uses a mix of Pioneer Millworks Shou Sugi Ban Larch Smoke siding and thermally-modified wood siding, to create a visual contrast between the grey charred siding and the black thermally modified. studioSTL, the architecture firm on the project explains, "Durability was a priority: the exterior is clad in thermally treated siding, chosen for its resistance to rot and fire."
