BREATHE.
Yes. Breathe. I need to remember to do this from time to time. It not only fills the lungs with precious and needed oxygen, but when done consciously, it gives you a moment to look around you. I took some time to breathe last week, smell the mountain air of the Adirondacks, enjoy the company of family and friends, and free my mind from the dizzying array of materials we work with every day.
Returning from vacation, this week sometimes feels lost. You know the way it goes – you need a day after a week-long vacation to put the house back together, to get things ready for the “return to reality”, to get the kids back on track. Then, you get back to the office, and try to jump right back in where you left off. Then you realize, it isn’t going to happen that way.
This is one of those moments when you need to breathe. The deeper the better. Relax, take stock of what is there to be done, get a mental or written priority list going, and ease back into it as best you can. Or, if you’re like me, the ringing telephone will set the pace for you and you have no choice in the matter. Routine is necessary so you can eventually break it. But now, I’m back, finding the groove, though not quite dancing yet. The break is over, breathing is done.
Stay tuned. A way cool new old floor is coming very soon from Pioneer Millworks, one you can bet the farm will be awesome. Just ask Mister Ed.
