Hood House—Pacific Northwest
Hood House is a high-performance and healthy building materials project in the Pacific Northwest by Akos Construction. The team used Pioneer Millworks Larch White, a charred siding with white overtones, to clad the Japanese-inspired project. The charring process, Shou Sugi Ban, is a traditional Japanese process where fire is used to finish the wood. In this case, Pioneer Millworks Larch White is colored with a white exterior-grade finish that adds tone and additional protection from the elements. Hood House was a 2025 Earth Advantage Awards: Zero Energy Project of the Year winner.
