Picturesque farms, equestrian excellence, and the gentle rolling landscape of Kentucky at dusk. The natural beauty of wood, expressed through the historic details and proprietary finishes of our rescued red and white oak planks. This is the Sunset Collection™, reclaimed, reimagined, and ready to offer reliable and beautifully rendered flooring made in the USA and crafted in our McMinnville, Oregon and Farmington, NY mills.

Jered Slusser, Pioneer Millworks sales manager says, "We are excited to change the face of the reclaimed wood industry, with the Sunset Collection. Repurposed wood doesn't have to be rustic and rough; it can also have a clean and smooth appearance. We have designed this collection to highlight our rescued oak's beautiful grains and inherent detailing, and to offer specialized finishes that today's consumers demand."

The Sunset Collection’s specialized color array hails from creative conception, our clientele’s needs, and renowned tales of corralled thoroughbreds, trail riders, and wanderlust travelers.

Our proprietary milling techniques preserves the oak’s historic character, illustrating the detail in the grains and fissures from its previous life. Our five-color spectrum focuses on this history by highlighting every knot and timeworn detail, ensuring each plank tells its own authentic story.

Pioneer Millworks West Coast salesperson Allison Hall says, “This collection was designed for those who want a reclaimed oak that has elevated stability, durability and predictability, but also spotlights natural timeless colorways and a diversity of installation options like Herringbone. Sunset Collection expresses a comfortable aesthetic that can be part of a design conversation in a variety of settings and styles.”

Sunset Collection’s tertiary color palette successfully expresses natures perfect blends. This nuanced color array features five unique hues, with two additional clear finishes designed to illustrate the Oak’s details and textures:

Dark Bay reflects the sleek mahogany coat of a champion horse. Beautiful minutiae from the remains of the original non-toxic black fence paint lends diversity and depth to each plank.

Nubuck embraces the regal imperfections and robust character of this classic leather, the toughest, yet smoothest part of the hide.

Sabino harkens sun touched sandy loam that crumbles from overlapping mountains and the granular detailing of backcountry soil and stone.

Roan dapples pale accents that mingle with swirling wood grains in a complementary play of diverse contrasts.

Canyon soothes with buttery oak tones attired in the delicate shades of the raw limestone bedrock that feeds lush pastures.

Both our Pure and Naked finishes celebrate the oak’s inherent tones that come au-natural with a classic UV cured hard wax oil that highlights the oak’s natural golden tones and depth of color.

Hall continues, “Pioneer Millworks has always been focused on natural materials that celebrate the variation of wood tones and its biophilic properties. This product line took a timeless material like reclaimed oak and added unique tinted colors to help neutralize the variation in color tone while incorporating subtle hints of browns, grays, or whitewash, all colors that can be found in nature. While our Pure and Naked finish options are essentially clear for those who prefer to celebrate the wood’s inherent character and variation.”

The Sunset Collection is also available with our robust Commercial Top-Coat for added protection and wear resistance. Ideal for high-traffic areas, our topcoat adds endurance to floors that require frequent cleanings and take extra wear-tear, with no effect on the vibrancy of the finish. Hall says, “The environmental product declarations and commercial top-coat option makes Sunset a great option for large scale installations in hospitality, multifamily dwellings, workplaces, and higher education structures.” Available with all of our UV-cured oil finishes, our Commercial Top-Coat combines the depth of oil-based finishes with the easy maintenance of a polyurethane.

Hall concludes, “Our brand identity is rooted in sustainability and health for people and planet and Sunset Collection meets this ethos. It is an authentic reclaimed, reimagined wood with a backstory and all available at an approachable price point.”
