Waking up this morning to another forecast of 6″ to 10″ of snow, my thoughts wandered to the warmer months here in New York. We’re blessed to see all four seasons here with quite a contrast between them, though on occasion each of those seasons can run a bit longer than we’d like. The old saying goes that we actually only have two seasons here, winter and August.

The summer brings with it local farmers markets, packed with vibrant colors, delicious produce, friends and neighbors, all the good stuff. The very idea of grilled local squash and sweet corn is melting the snow away outside the office. Or, maybe thats just a slightly above freezing temperature teasing us once again. Anyway, a couple of years ago, Pioneer Millworks provided reclaimed Heart Pine timbers for the new bus shelter in my hometown of Geneva, NY. The structure overlooks the farmers market, and is a great combination of natural wood with modern steel & glass, further proof that “reclaimed” doesn’t always equal “rustic”. Passing by this structure every day, I see the timbers still looking great, holding up through all seasons and providing some protection from the elements for those waiting to catch a ride.
