Now that you’ve got your new flooring installed, here are our top 5 tips to keep your Pioneer Millworks Commercial Finish looking amazing! 

Make use of mats and runners: By placing walk-off mats at entrances and using runners in locations where foot traffic is heaviest you can protect the surface of your flooring. These mats and runners are an easy answer for dirt & grit and will keep it from being tracked into your space.  Got a dog that loves to play? Throw a runner down to reduce the effects of its claws on the finish!  Have a main entry? Place a walk-off mat to buffer the constant flow of feet.

Keep in mind that all wood flooring will oxidize over time, especially with exposure to sunlight. This may result in color differences where mats/rugs cover the flooring for long periods of time.

Keep it clean: By regularly sweeping and vacuuming your floor you will reduce dirt and grit which can dig into your commercial finish.  When vacuuming, be sure to use a brush attachment.  Alternatively, you can also use a dry dust mop for a quick dusting of the floor. 

Damp mop: Once you have swept and vacuumed, our Commercial Topcoat can be damp mopped by following our maintenance instructions. Remember that you NEVER want to leave water sitting or pooling on your floor, because wood can pull in the water, expanding the grain of the wood and causing unwanted movement. 

Spot clean: Spill wine? Dog left you a present? Kid dropped spaghetti sauce on the floor? Time to spot clean! It’s always best to catch these messes when they happen. Start by blotting the moisture/debris off with a towel. Then, use a WOCA Commercial Soap (can be diluted for a spray bottle or damp mopping) to remove any left-over residue. 

Proper cleaning products: To maximize protection and sustain the beauty of your floor surface, it’s imperative to use products that will maintain the finish. Stay away from oil soaps, wax liquids, steam cleaners, or any general household cleaning products on your floor. For the best results and best-looking commercial finish, we recommend using WOCA woodcare products. Test your cleaning solution on a small hidden area of your floor prior to application to make sure the result is what you are looking for!
